Hirano Shen-Kung (HSK) is an intuitive method to treat body, mind and spiritual pain and illnesses. Shen-Kung is a compound word in which Shen connotes heart, mind, awareness/consciousness and spirit. Kung translates as work, achievement or merit. Skill can also describe Kung. The Chinese traditional method of Qi-Kung (intrinsic energy skill) is a special type of method that can be applied to martial arts and for generating health and wellness. It’s roots can be traced back to India but it’s popularity was made possible through China’s Buddhist Shaolin monastery. It is now widely practiced in Asia and its popularity has spread around the world.
There are many styles of Qi-kung, but similarities far outweigh the differences. Transforming the dense material energy called Jing (considered the body’s essence, blood, body fluids or the purist physical internal secretions that is the material basis for life, procreation and longevity) into Qi (the non-material energy that animates the body and then to transform this Qi into Shen (heart, mind & awareness/consciousness & spirit) where humans enter the dimension of Heaven & Earth. Transforming the Jing to Qi, then Qi to Shen is considered the “Three Great Treasures” found in ancient Taoist Qi-Kung writings. Simultaneously guiding the Qi along the body’s energy pathways called meridians and activating the various acupoints mentally while synchronizing inhalation and exhalation to the adducting and abducting body movements are all basic to all the various styles. These self-help exercises can invigorate the martial artist’s power while other non-martial artists utilize these exercises for health and longevity purposes.
However, there is another category of Qi-kung that involves one person helping another person’s medical complaints, as opposed to self-help through a series of Qi exercises. Channeling the Universal energy through the body energy pathways then emitting the Qi through the hands to the various targets determined by the practitioner are also common among many Qi-Kung styles. However, HSK does not fall into this category. Rather than Universal Qi, HSK accesses the energy that is already present, a physical intelligence that will be activated through one’s Shen or the heart, mind, awareness/consciousness and spirit.
The Nature of energy: Theoretical astrophysicist says there are two things in the Universe and that is energy and matter. And within these two are four forces of energy and they are light, strong force, weak force and gravity. However what makes up matter, or mass, are comprised of atoms. Only the number of protons and electrons will differentiate one element of matter from another element. Hence the periodic table and the atomic numbers of which 118 elements have been identified. However, atoms are not matter, they are energy. There is a mad race among the astro-theoretical physicist to develop this one inch formula called the grand unification theory, or GUT or short, that many theoretical physicists are trying to mathematically explain the four forces of energy that makes up our Universe. It even contains stem cells that has the potential to regrow the body. This intelligence is not limited to the human body but applies to the rest of the Universe as well. This Universal innate intelligence and all of it's evolutionary processes and how energy particles are connected to its activity from vast distance is what astro-theoretical physicists refer to as quantum entanglement. Ancient Indian text, or Vedas, refers this as 'Super Consciousness" or Universal cosmic consciousness.
