Energy and matter make up the vast Universe however matter's building block are composed of atoms, therefore many physicists regard the primary property of the Universe as being energy. The ancient Chinese healers also saw the Universe similarly but took it a step further by applying this energetic view on astrology, food, art, music, horticulture, Earthly structures, sex and procreation, relationships, martial arts and medicine, that is still practiced today. Although improving or restoring health can be achieved by these means, acupuncture was by far the most profound because it laid the foundation for all other methods to access the intricate energetic network, called meridians, to treat internal and external pathological conditions. Contrary to this belief, many current studies and research on acupuncture have observed the nervous system as being the primary network involved in the physics of this healing modality. Despite which view is correct, 4000 years of empirical knowledge and limited research both point towards the fact that acupuncture does indeed work.

The key in achieving health is by addressing this intrinsic energetic force and ensuring symmetry by one or a combination of the above mentioned methods. Which method, what to employ and how much to use will depend on the condition and the severity of the health complaint.
